Puerto Vallarta Real Estate Tip: Why paint tree trunks?

While many have guessed, “painting tree trunks” is not for style. It’s also not paint!

Gardeners and landscapers put a hard substance on tree trunks called “lime mortar” to protect the trees from ants, termites and other insects that could threaten the health of the tree! Now you know!

A couple of other tropical garden tricks:

  1. Bougainvilleas like sun. The more the better. They live naturally here where rain only shows up in the summer with our famous (and lovely) dry winters they go without water. Do not water too much, fertilize too much or anything else if you want your bougainvilleas to flourish. As one elderly woman told me years ago, “If you keep taking care of that Bougainvillea you are going to kill it!”
  1. Orchids like non-direct light. They live in the forests under the canopy of the jungle where they get light but not direct sun. Here is a great, short video on the topic of getting them to bloom https://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+you+make+an+orchid+rebloom&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS758US758&oq=how+do+you+make+an+orchid+rebloom&aqs=chrome..69i57.9912j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=1

  2. Marijuana- just kidding! I don’t know about this. Really.
