Red Button Activated in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is more than half way done with its 2 week activation of the Red Button. This red button was activated due to the elevated number of new cases of the Covid-19 virus. Governor Enrique Alfaro made the decision to restrict businesses and beach access for two weeks with the expectation of curbing the spread of the virus here in our city. The dates of the activation period are from October 30, 2020 until November 13, 2020.

During the current two week period, all businesses must close by 8:30 pm. this includes nightclubs, bars, restaurants, and any other commercial shopping venue. Grocery stores are open until 10 pm. Taxis can operate until 10 pm, but Ubers only until 8:30 pm. The beaches are open from 5 am until 3 pm daily in an effort to keep large groups off the beach.

Among the services and businesses that will be permitted to maintain their regular hours are hospitals, medical clinics, pharmacies, convenience stores and gas stations.

Jalisco is currently an orange light “high” risk state on the federal government’s coronavirus stoplight map but Alfaro has chosen to ease and tighten restrictions according to state government criteria rather than federal advice. The governor accused coronavirus czar Hugo López-Gatell of playing politics after Jalisco regressed to red light status on the federal coronavirus map in July.

According to Jalisco authorities, as of Tuesday the state had recorded 89,988 confirmed coronavirus cases and 3,967 Covid-19 deaths.

What does this mean for those of us here in PV? And for real estate? We are seeing less Canadian snow bird arrivals this month as Canada still implements their 2 week quarantine rule for arrivals to their country. We still are receiving visitors from the United States, as well as buyers looking to finally take the leap and relocate to beautiful PV. The weather is absolutely perfect right now (summer has ended!). I hope you all are staying healthy and happy. If you have any questions on life PV right now, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
